What I Admire About the Devil
1 Peter 5:8
The devil is said to be our adversary and it does not take long after getting saved to realize this truth. Therefore, the more we about the Devil the better we will be at dealing with him. Remember that we will never defeat him on our own but we can overcome his attacks with the help of Jesus Christ. In this sermon we are going to look at some of the things that we can admire about how Satan operates as well as how we can combat the very things of Satan that are so effective.
Things I Admire about the Devil:
1) His wisdom (Ezekiel 28:12,17)
- Before Lucifer fell and became Satan he was said to be full of wisdom. After his sin and failure he still has his wisdom but it is corrupted.
- We can combat this wisdom because the wisdom of God which comes from above is pure (James 3:13-18 ; James 1:5 ; Proverbs 1:7)
2) His power (Luke 4:5-6)
- Many people underestimate Satan’s Power, but when we look at the following scriptures, he is a very powerful being (Acts 26:18 ; Job 1-2 ; Revelation 13:11-15)
- We must remember Satan’s power is limited (Job 1-2) God’s is not (Ecclesiastes 8:4 ; 1 Corinthians 1:18-25 ; Acts 4:13)
3) His persistence (Job 41:9)
- When it comes to persistence, Satan just does not quit. I saved people could have his persistence.
- When can combat this with faithfulness (1 Corinthians 4:1-2; Proverbs 20:6 ; Hebrews 11:6)
4) His effectiveness (Revelation 20:8)
- It is amazing to me that after 1000 years in the bottomless pit, Satan comes right out and gathers a massive army. He always seems to be effective.
- We can be even more effective if we just use God’s wisdom, God’s power and simply be faithful in applying them!
