You Are Never Alone
1 Corinthians 12:12-27
In this sermon we are going to use some simple truths from the teaching on the body of Christ to show how we can accomplish the purpose that God has for us to do. We will first look at some simple teachings regarding what the body of Christ really is then we will look at how Paul used the human body to teach about the body of Christ.
What is the Body of Christ?
- When Jesus was resurrected, he had a flesh and bone body (Luke 2:36-45). Simply put this is the body of Christ.
- He ascended back to heaven in this body (Acts 1:9-11). He will also return with this body.
- Now he is seated on the right hand of God in this body (Hebrews 10:12)
- When we are saved today in the Church Age we are spiritually resurrected and baptized spiritually by the Holy Ghost into this body (Ephesians 2:5- 6 ; 1 Corinthians 12:12-13)
- Therefore, the church is the body of Christ (Ephesians 1:1:22-23)
What can we learn from Paul’s teaching on the body of Christ?
1) We are never alone (verse 14)
- Satan wants you to think you are alone so he can devour you (1 Peter 5:8)
- We are not really alone, think of the example of Elijah (1 Kings 19:18)
2) God put us where he wants us in the body (verse 18)
- The key is to be faithful (1 Corinthians 1:12) and content with where God put you in the body (Philippians 4:12-13).
3) Every one is just as important as everyone else (verse 15-17, 19-24)
- Our attitude should be that of Philippians 2:2-4 regarding ourself and others.
4) We must work together (verses 25-27)
- The word unity is only used 3 times in a KJB (Psalm 133:1 ; Ephesians 4:3,13)
