Jesus Is Revealed by the Breaking of the Bread Luke 24:13-35 CLICK TITLE FOR AUDIO

In this sermon we will look at the two disciples who were on the road to Emmaus and had Jesus appear unto them. At first they did not know him but after he broke bread with them their eyes were opened and they knew him. This should cause us to ask the question, how well do we really know Jesus? Also we will see that our knowledge of Jesus Christ is connected with breaking bread and by this we mean the word of God.

Philippians 3:7-10 (Here we see the apostle Paul’s desire to know Jesus)

Ephesians 1:15-19 (Here we see Paul’s desire for the church at Ephesus to know Jesus)

The position of the two disciples on the road to Emmaus :

We can ask ourselves do this description every describe us. Are we burdened and saddened by the things in this life, the answer is the same for us as it is for them study the scriptures for in them we will see Jesus Christ.

Jesus began at Moses and expounded the things in the scriptures concerning himself. (I bet that was the greatest bible study ever given).

One of the most amazing things in the passage is that their eyes were opened when he broke bread and gave it to them. This makes perfect sense because Jesus is the bread of Life (John 6:25-35). Therefore to know him we must search the scriptures (John 5:39).

Jesus’ reference to Manna : (John 6)

Manna is a type of the word of God and remember that it is also a type of Jesus Christ because Jesus is the word of God. In John 6 see says that he is the true bread from heaven .
