Disagreement between the parents – Gen 21:9-11

•             Rules
•             Discipline
•             Expectations
•             Friends

Allowing instruction that causes to err from the words of knowledge – Prov 19:27

•             Education
•             Television, internet, and movies
•             Influence of foolish friends

Allowing rebellion to go unchecked – Deut 21:18-21

Provoking your children to anger – Col 3:21

 

The following strengthen the family:

Building a home on love and respect – Col 3:12-15; Tit 2:4-6

•             Husbands and wives loving and respecting each other
•             Parents and children loving and respecting each other

Bringing up your children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord – Eph 6:4

•             Family devotions – Deut 6:6-9
•             Private devotions

Having your children in subjection – 1 Tim 3:4

•             Fear – children should fear their parents not the other way around – Lev 19:13
•             Obedience – responding on the first command – Eph 6:1-3

Establishing appropriate boundaries – Lk 15:11-32
