Who is this King of Glory?

Matthew 2:1-12

In this sermon we will be looking at Jesus Christ as the Lord of Host and King of Glory from the viewpoint of the visit by the wise men when Jesus was born. The wise came to Jerusalem in search of a King to worship and they did find him but not exactly as they had expected. No one in Jerusalem was aware that he had even been born. As a matter of fact, they had to research to answer the question of where he was supposed to be born.

Who was the King of Glory?

By carefully studying the scriptures of the Old Testament and prophesies of Daniel the wise men knew that there was a promise of a great king that would be ruler in Israel.

Who is this King of Glory? The Lord of Host (Psalm 24:10)

Jesus was the promised King:

Who was the King of Glory to those in his day?

1)  To Herod he was a threat (Matthew 2:12,16)

2)  To the soldiers that crucified him he was just another criminal (John 19:23-24)

3)  To the Leaders and those who crucified him, he was a joke and disgrace (Mark 15:29-32)

4)  To the repentant thief he was the only hope (Luke 23:40-43)

Who is this King of Glory to you? Master or Lord there is a huge difference.

Many called him master (Luke 19:35) but only a few called him Lord (John 20:28). You can choose to call him Lord today because all will call him Lord one day, but then it will be to late (Philippians 2:9-11).
